Starlight 07:26
Starlight, burned an image of that night into my memory. And did you say, let's do something memorable tonight before I leave And I know you, sister mischief, summer spirit, daughter of the night Did I say, we've just got 8 hours left before you catch your flight Starlight, lit the path ahead of us as we walked through the trees Waning crescent moon above was still too dim to see How those starts played off your hair as you walked ahead of me And I'm alright, yeah, but every now and then the image wakes me from my sleep Watching as you climb that mountain up ahead of me Turning back and glancing only intermittently Hey baby, I still dream about you even though it's been a while (x4) Other girls came round to see, if your ghost's still haunting me, they can sense you're still around Shoulda seen the way they flee, cursed the duppy still in me, swore they heard you make a sound I said hey, girl i gotta stay (x4) Starlight, lit the path that led me to these faded memories Made me reminisce about the way we used to be Kept me up in such a state of misery And I'm not right, no And every night I leave my bed and go out for a drive Burning every red light as the sun begins to rise Trying to wipe that image of you glancing from my mind Starlight, peering through my sunroof as I take my morning drive And did you say, maybe try to find someone who will try to treat you right And I know you, never selfless, always restless, doing what you like And did I say, maybe try to find your way back to me when it's right

about

Moonstarr teams up with Montreal's Kelly Nunes on ‘Starlight’, a raw house cut with deep techno soul roots. ‘Starlight’ evokes the fragmented memories of a past romance that flood the mind while driving through the city in the dead of night, steam rising from sewer grates. Drawing on inspiration from Abacus, Mark Flash, Recloose and Shawn Rudiman, the original keeps building with anticipation, while the energetic remix pays homage to early 90s club days in Toronto.

Over the last two years, Moonstarr has released exclusive tracks on underground labels such as Pittsburgh’s Love What You Feel and Berlin’s Parages Music. A 12 inch EP is in the works for Adam Marshall’s New Kanada imprint, as well as the follow-up to Ill Harmonics Vol. 1 on PTR Music. ‘C-Minus Particles’ is still getting love four years on from the likes of George Fitzgerald, Art Department (BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix), Maceo Plex (featured his on Mixmag Dec. 2013 mix), and was recently licensed to a forthcoming Rainer Truby compilation on Compost Records.

Moonstarr continues to push innovative sounds on the long-running bi-weekly Future Classic Radio show on CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal with co-host The One Tash. The show is available for stream on www.futureclassic.ca.

Fifteen years strong, Public Transit Recordings continues its mission to release cutting-edge Hip Hop, Future Soul and Electronic Music from Canadian and international artists. www.ptrmusic.com

Moonstarr Montreal, Québec

This man lights fires on nuff dancefloors around the planet with his interpretations of broken soul, techno, and hip hop. Broken drum loops, heavy synth action, and thick basslines are soaked into every crevice of his music. Keep your neckbrace at the ready... ... more
